Morris Wakefield Hutchison (Hutch) died peacefully at home on November 28, 2016 at the age of 97. Hutch was born October 11, 1919 in Vancouver, WA to Marcia Viola Gleason and Morris Hugh Hutchison. Hutch graduated from Vancouver High School, attended Clark College, Vancouver and Reed College, Portland, OR where he completed a B.A. in Chemistry. It was at Reed that he met Dorothy Melissa Glassberg (daughter of Abe and Lucie Glassberg) of Everett, WA.

Hutch spent summers in military reserve training and was inducted into the Army on August 4, 1941. After Pearl Harbor he joined the 162nd Infantry of the 41st Division at Fort Lewis, WA. He was deployed to New Guinea, then hospitalized in Australia with malaria. He returned to New Guinea and finally shipped home in December, 1944. He married his beloved Dorothy at Trinity Episcopal Church, Everett on December 26, 1944.

Hutch began his teaching career at Everett High School in 1951. In 1968 he moved to Moclips High School on the Washington coast as Principal and then to Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale as Vice-Principal until retirement. He was a well-remembered and effective teacher and administrator.

Hutch was a man of faith, active in church and community. He was a lay leader at Trinity Episcopal, Everett as well as Episcopal Churches in Hoquiam and Bremerton. To his last day, he kept his positive attitude, quick smile, and appreciative manner. His friendly greeting and warm manner touched everyone he met. Hutch was preceded in death by daughter Susan (1971), and beloved wife Dorothy (2011). He is survived by son Coe (Janet) of Port Townsend, grandsons David (Meredith) and Steven (Cara) of Seattle and Shoreline and great-grandson Arlo. We all love and miss our dear Hutch. Services will be held December 14, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2301 Hoyt Ave, Everett, WA. Memorials to Snohomish County Chapter, American Red Cross.
