Merton Gribble, 92, born in Minneapolis, MN on 4/23/25, passed away on 5/17/17.
When he was 13 years old, he and his family moved to Beverly Hills, California, after his father died. While at Beverly Hills High School, he met Nancy Ann Bacon. He joined the Navy shortly before turning 18 and was schooled to become a submariner, serving on the USS Trigger, Blenny and Sperry in the Pacific Fleet. Merton Gribble, 92, born in Minneapolis, MN on 4/23/25, passed away on 5/17/17.
When he was 13 years old, he and his family moved to Beverly Hills, California, after his father died. While at Beverly Hills High School, he met Nancy Ann Bacon. He joined the Navy shortly before turning 18 and was schooled to become a submariner, serving on the USS Trigger, Blenny and Sperry in the Pacific Fleet. When returning from WWII, he and Nancy met again and were later married. He became a General Contractor and land developer. Mert was also involved in banking, the co-owner of Woodland Hills Saving & Loan, in Sherman Oaks, California.
He moved the family to Marysville in 1967, where he continued in land development and building homes. Over his 60-year career he built over 2000 homes and miles of roads. He was a co-founder of Frontier Bank, in Everett and owned Gribble Chevrolet in Ferndale.
He was a huge LA Rams, then Seahawk fan. He would also watch any NFL game. He also loved the Mariners, even going to spring training in AZ., Mert enjoyed boating, owning Corvettes and traveling by car, motorcycle, train and cruises and was a member of the American Legion.
He was very devoted to his family and was preceded in death, by his wife, Nancy in 2015. Mert is survived by his three children: Kathleen(Craig) Shepard, Denise Pearson, & Dale (Linda) Gribble, grandfather to Kip, Allie, Sam, Kate, Abbie, Julia, Aaron, Leslie, Trevor & Spencer, great-grandfather to 22 with many nieces and nephews.
His service will be held on June 3rd 2017. Memorial donations can be made to Providence Hospice whom, along with the loving care at Lakeshore Manor, helped make his last weeks of his life very comfortable, following a recent diagnosis of esophageal cancer.
